iMovie

Apple Inc.’s iMovie (also known as iMovie HD) is a preloaded video editing tool for macOS, iOS, and iPadOS devices.

It was initially published in 1999 as a Mac OS 8 utility packaged with the iMac DV, the first consumer Mac model with FireWire connectivity.

iMovie is a macOS-only program included in the iLife suite of Mac apps from version 3. iMovie was included for free with the purchase of a new Mac or iOS device beginning in late 2013 and is now available for free to all customers. Apple touts iMovie as a consumer-oriented video editor. Apple offers an additional product for the professional market called Final Cut Pro.
